Cthulhu...kah thu lah? suh thoo luh?

I've heard that word pronounced so many different ways tonight and I am very tired and I can't even remember how I originally pronounced it.

today I had a good day at school. I actually had a client(s). TWO. OMFG. I KNOW.

and then my mommy picked me up at the MAX station on her way home from work. then we went home and picked up my sister. then we went to her boyfriend's house. her boyfriend's name is Dave. he's in a band called Rubella Grave.

at his house were four people: him, his son, Hunter, his friend, Jay, and his friend, Aaron. we played that Cthulhu RPG thing. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN. seriously, it was. and it was EVEN FUNNIER because it was exactly like LOST.

Dave was the narrator. I was a doctor named John Smith. (OMG YOU WILL NEVER GUESS WHO INSPIRED ME.) I don't remember what Robin was, but her name was Cassandra. Hunter was a soldier on leave named Ian. my mom was a punk named...something weird. I couldn't remember it. Aaron was named Sigmund. Jay was an author named John, so we called him Johnny.

we were in a plane crash on an ISLAND. we all kept making Lost references, but Dave's never seen Lost so he just thought we were stupid. so he changed it from an island to a peninsula.

and then I was the first person to wake up from the crash, cuz I'm the doctor, der.

and we kept making Lost references and he said he was going to punish the next person to do so. so we kept making Lost references.

we started at 7:30pm and didn't stop till 12:30am. we still haven't finished. I think the plan is to meet back up the Sunday after next.

but yeah, the moral of the story? pick the grenades. everyone else will be like "OH NOES THE 'DOCTOR' HAS GRENADES HE'S GONNA ESSPLODE US!!" but when those Nazi zombies are coming in by the tens, you will not be sorry. and guns are just so boring anyway.

having grenades+being the doctor automatically makes you the leader.

being the doctor also gives you the right to throw injured people in front of the mutant wolf things so you can run away.

we have the best Taco Tuesday EVER

I just saw Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, Julian Perretta, Semi Precious Weapons, and Ladyhawke in that order. it was the Perez Hilton tour. I don't care about Perez Hilton. I do care about Ladyhawke and NPSH, though. SO I WENT.

I got to the venue at 6pm. WITH A DOLL OF LADYHAWKE/PIP BROWN. it is super tiny. I wish I had taken a picture of it. doors were at 7pm, so I had a good, cold, lonely hour to wait. I was the only one in line for maybe 30 minutes. I did see all of NPSH walk back from dinner, though. I waved, and Liam was the only one to see me. he waved back. *dork* Shaun walked by a few times. I thought he looked lost, but I guess he wasn't.

about 10 minutes before doors, there was a very, very short line. me, a group of five, then another group of five. then these two girls, who I am going to guess were no older than 16, got in line, except they didn't go to the end of the line. they went to the opposite side of the door that I was on, TRYING TO CUT ME. well, joke's on them. the door opened on their side, blocking them from getting in. I WAS FIRST IN. I WIN. and I got the spot front & center. WIN.

when I got to the stage, all of NPSH were on-stage, soundchecking. Liam said to me "first person in line!" and I was like "yeah!" and it was awkward. yay. then Shaun was like "first in line!" and I was like "yeah!" annd it was awkwarrrrd. then he thanked me for coming, I thanked him for playing, and I told him that NPSH and Ladyhawke were two of my favorite bands. yay.

NPSH were so fucking amazing. they played these songs:

Bedroom Costume
Holding Hands in the Shower
Sophisticated Side Ponytail
Slow Motion Tag Team
Beard Lust
Me+Yr Daughter
Iceage Babeland

when they first came on, a Shaun and Luke were wearing black plastic hangers. near the end of the show, shaun started breaking his and throwing them into the crowd. I am one broken hanger richer.

while NPSH were on-stage, Shaun and David were telling us to all meet back at the Wonder Ballroom (where the show was held) next Tuesday for Taco Tuesday. he then taped the audience (actually, all he got was the ceiling) saying "WE HAVE THE BEST TACO TUESDAY EVER" as part of a project they're working on. I think it was that they're trying to create a conversation between every city that they're visiting this tour, so they video tape each one saying something.

during the chorus of "Sophisticated Side Ponytail", Claire knelt down in front of me and sang to meeee. it was beautiful, we're soulmates. Luke totally sang to me during the chorus of "Me+Yr Daughter". it was hilarious, we're soulmates. during the third verse in "Beard Lust", David held the microphone up to me for the scream. I screamed as loud as I could, but I couldn't hear myself. but going by the look he gave me afterward, I definitely screamed loud enough. IT WAS AWESOME. WE ARE SOULMATES.

those two stupid girls weaseled their way to the front for Julian Perretta. I guess they were there solely for him. I didn't know he was British until he came on-stage and started speaking in a British accent, which made his act slightly better. one of his songs, "Feel Better", remined me of the B*witched song, "C'est La Vie" or whatever it's called.

and I didn't really like Semi Precious Weapons. maybe I'm a prude or something. I don't know how else to describe them except for "cock rock", and I do not liek that kind of music. I like my lyrics more self-deprecating.

and then Ladyhawke!! I LOVE HER. as Abby said in her blog, her guitarist was adorable, and his glasses were freaking awesome. I wanted to try them on. I wonder if his prescription is stronger than mine.

Ladyhawke was amazing, though she isn't really as energetic as NPSH. with NPSH, it was more like their was a 24/7 dance party on-stage. Ladyhawke was more like watching someone just play music. does that sound bad? because it wasn't. she was really sweet, too. she said that Portland and been the warmest audience so far. yay for Portland!

Pip is super adorable. people kept telling her she was hot and asking if she had a boyfriend, but she just laughed every time.

I waited around after the show to try and meet NPSH and Pip, but I missed NPSH. I wanted to talk to them about LOST (I bet the Ben mentioned in "Sophisticated Side Ponytail" is Ben Linus) and to ask about the competition they had a while ago. but I met Pip! she was lovely. I gave her Pipdoll and she said it was awesome. I wish I had gotten a picture of it beforehand.

I did get a photo with Pip, though.

that's pretty much it. it took me an hour and a half to get home. I should really go to bed now cuz I have to be at school in six hours.

END.

"love" is not a strong enough word

for what I feel for We Are Scientists.

if there is only one thing you know about me, there's a 99.9% chance that it is the fact that I LOVE these fellers:

I love them more than anything ever. I love their music and them as people. I love everything they do. I'm sure I've even bent my standards around to match them. it's probably unhealthy. but I don't care, because I LOVE THEM.

it's probably kind of crazy that I actually feel bad if I skip past a WAS song. if I do it a lot and notice, I honestly do start to feel a little guilty. it makes me second guess myself and my obsession with this band.

I know it's ludicrous to second guess myself with this band, though. I go through the same phase every couple of months where I find a band that isn't WAS and listen to them constantly, just non-stop for a month or so. then I hear a WAS song, probably Altered Beast or New Me, and my love is rekindled, and I spend months listening to WAS, non-stop.

this time my "band that isn't WAS" is MUSE. I don't know if it's supposed to be capitalized or not, I don't think it stands for anything. but on albums and things it's always written in all caps, so I like to write it the same. MUSE are completely different then the other bands. they're the first band that have made feel like maybe I won't go back to WAS. what if that happened? what if WAS were replaced?

it's redonkulous, though, right? to think that? yeah, probably.

and I have been listening to MUSE for longer than WAS. they were my favorite band when I was 14/15, until I found out about Franz Ferdinand and that whole genre. MUSE were my first favorite band who wasn't Spice Girls or Blink 182.

but writing this out...I don't feel worried anymore. because honestly I was a bit worried. I think I'll go back to WAS soon.

Converse & Hot Topic

I don't like either of 'em for the same reason.

some people, and I only mean SOME, and by some I mean PROBABLY NOT YOU, wear converse for the same reason that they shop at Hot Topic. both are considered "cool" and "non-comformist", when in reality, they are 100% conformist. who doesn't have a pair of effing Converse or an Edward Cullen doll-I-mean-action-figure from Hot Topic? is there a mall in amurrkah that doesn't have a Hot Topic or Torrid? is there a shoe-selling store that doesn't have several pair of Converse? c'mon, now. don't lie to yourself.

I'm not saying people shouldn't wear them; wear what you wanna wear. if you want to wear only clothes from Hollister or American Eagle or...I don't know...Value Village, you go for it. just don't pretend that a brand name makes you an individual.

I have one pair of Converse and my Franz Ferdinand shirt is from Hot Topic, so I'm a conformist too.

...and oh yeah another reason I don't like Converse is because they're kinda narrow and I have wide feet. :(

possible reasons

possible reasons as to why I might not like a certain musician/act/artist/band/whatchamacallit:
if all of their songs sound the same.
if they don't write their own lyrics/music.
if they "co-write" their own lyrics/music.
lyrics that just repeat the same thing, over and over. I don't mean emphasis through repetion, like saying "I want it all of the time" five times over, I mean when you say the same thing five different ways just to fill up space.
if the "artist" is an obvious dick. I'm talking to you, Kanye.

possible reasons as to why I might like a certain musician/act/artist/band/whatchamacallit:
if Keith Murray likes them.
